J. (Jeff) Luscombe

Jeff was born in Footscray and received his education initially at Francis Street Primary School and then Williamstown Technical School.He is married to Susan, has three children and has worked for many years as a Maintenance Fitter.
Jeff’s first exposure to cricket was with the Seddon Cricket Club Under 16’s and after moving to Ringwood in 1975 he joined the North Ringwood Cricket Club in 1978where he still enjoys the game. Jeff has been on the North Ringwood committee virtually since joining the club and has served in a variety of positions including being the club Secretary in 1989-90.He has won many North Ringwood batting awards and was the North Ringwood D Grade All Rounder in 1998-99.Jeff was also a member of the club’s Legends (over 50’s) Veterans Premiership team in 2008-09.
Service to his club has not been Jeff’s only contribution to local cricket.For many years Jeff assisted on various RDCA committees ad had a particular interest in the Junior Competition where he was one of that competitions longest serving Executive members – over 13 years.
Jeff has served as the RDCA Junior Secretary, the Junior Records Secretary and he was instrumental in the formation of the Non Competitive grades in 2001-02.The ‘ Non Comp ‘
initiative is a clear example of Jeff’s passion for the development of junior cricket and these grades continue to flourish years later. Jeff was also active in Junior Representative team activities.
The Junior competition was not the only interest Jeff had as far as serving on the Association Executive was concerned.He was the Veterans Competition Records Secretary for 10 years and has played many games in the Veterans competition whilst still playing senior cricket.
Jeff richly deserves his Association Life Membership which was awarded in 2006-07. He isalso a Life Member of the North Ringwood Cricket Club. Jeff has been further honoured by the Association with the Under 14 Grade 1 Premiership Trophy being named after him.
