Jack Austin had only one arm but this did not stop him from playing or umpiring cricket.
As well as his involvement in local cricket Jack was also a member and volunteer for East Ringwood Football Club, including being President in 1951 and 1952 and Secretary in 1950 and from 1955 until 1957 inclusive. He was awarded Life Membership of the East Ringwood Football Club in recognition of his service to the club.
Jack played cricket at East Ringwood for around 15 years and was a club delegate to the RDCA in the mid 1940’s. In addition to his club and football volunteering commitments, Jack served the cricket Association in a number of positions over a number of years. He was Registration Secretary in 1947-48, Secretary in 1948-49, 1949-50 and 1950-51 and was a Vice President in 1950-51. In addition to his playing and volunteering efforts, Jack was also an umpire for a number of seasons.
