TROLLOPE SHIELD Round 4 (1 day games)

On yet another day of frustrating weather conditions we did manage to get one game completed and what a game that was between North Ringwood and Montrose.
North Ringwood won the toss and elected to bat.
The Bulls scored steadily through the day with Montrose bowlers doing a great job in what was obviously difficult conditions to bowl. Tyler Sonsini finished with great economical figures on 1/18 off his 8 overs having got the crucial wicket of inform batsman Simon Gray (23).
Luke McPhie (24) Jay Stoikos (21*) and Matt Stoikos (20) played pivotal roles batting around Michsel Scott who top scored with 53.
Justin Perkins (3/28 off 8) and Cheyne Van Koll (2/41 off 8) were the main wicket takers following up Tyler Sonsini's impressive spell.
In reply Montrose lost 2 early wickets courtesy of Brendon Leis picking up 2 wickets in 2 balls and putting Montrose on the back foot. But credit to Monttose as they fought back scoring progressively amongst rain interuptions.
A good partnership between Kieren Perkins (37) and Justin Perkins (24) had put their side in a good positiion at 3/95. But then with Luke Ridgwell and Michael Scott bowling in tandem it was North Ringwood edging infront after dismissing the Perkins brothers.
Momentum swings all day seemed the way and with the total looking out of reach at 8/150 with not many overs left it was Cheyne Van Koll (19) batting at number ten who helped push the score to within touching distance of a victory.
It came down to Montrose needing 3 runs off 2 balls with the last pair in. Naturally with the game in the balance it was Sam Ridgewell who picked up the wicket of Van Koll and see Montrose fall agonisingly short.
Michael Scott finished off an impressive day with 1/25 off his 8 overs along with
Brendon Leis (3/36) Luke Ridgewell (2/30 ) and Jay Stoikos (2/39) being the main wicket takers.
Fair play to both sides who fought it out all day in trying conditions and as they say its a shame someone had to lose.

The three other games started but did not come to a conclusion.

Here is a report of the game from a "roving reporter" and thought it only fair to not edit any of his great work...so here it is:

"Play started on time, ground was perfect. WSO sent SCR in , good opening partnership of 39 between Ollie Brown and Ryan Smith (68). Rain break at 3.06 for 14 minutes.  Game reduced to 37 overs each,  Smith and Michael King (33) put on 83 before a tumble of wickets.    Bowlers shared wickets with 4 each getting 2 wickets, some good catching.  A late tea at 3.45.

WSO batting faced 7.2 overs to reach 0/38 with Andrew Jorgensen on 26 n. o. ( 5 boundaries).  Off at 4.32 p.m. after persistent rain and game eventually called at 5.35 with light rain still falling. Ground still very good but likelihood of a result either way was slim.

Match drawn. "

LETS HOPE THE WEATHER IS KINDER TO US NEXT WEEK...ROLL ON THE SUMMER 🌞🌞
