The Ringwood and District Cricket Association’s competition conducted their elimination and qualifying finals on the weekend in perfect conditions.
In Trollope Shield, the elimination final was between Wantirna South and North Ringwood. After winning the toss the Bulls batted out their 80 overs against a tight Devils bowling attack led by Nick McDonald (3-47) to compile 9-217. Aaron Leis (45), Ryan Peter-Budge (33) and Tom Robinson (32) were the main contributors with the bat.
In the qualifying final East Ringwood were in all sorts of trouble early against Lilydale when they collapsed to 7-103 with Taylor Gibson (42) top scoring. The Roos were then rescued by a 122, 8th wicket partnership between Jacob Cardwell (97) and David McIntosh (36no) to see them finally finish on 233. Brenton Pearce (4-43) took the bowling honours for the Falcons.
In the Wilkins Cup qualifying final between Wonga Park and Norwood, Wonga were well served by a 69 run opening stand between Ben Mathews (40) and Toby Ford (81no) who carried his bat for the entire innings. Due to tight bowling from Luke Barber (3-65) and Ben Sansom (2-52) partnerships were hard to form from then on and Wonga finished the day on 7-217.
In the elimination final Templeton’s innings of 6-253 against Mooroolbark was held together by opener Niraj DeSilva (93) and Devesh Singh (42no). David Lever (4-63) was the Barker’s main wicket taker.
In the Newey Plate qualifying final, Warranwood’s Glynn James (5-42) and Tim Hall (3-30) ran through Scoresby’s batting line up to dismiss the for 140 off 61 overs. The Sharks will resume tomorrow on 3-99.
The elimination final between Croydon North and South Warrandyte saw a rampant Croydon North batting line up led with a century by Shane Findlay and backed up by Leigh Cuffe (70) put the Hawks bowling attack to the sword to compile 6-310.
