The penultimate round of the Ringwood and District Cricket Association’s season saw Melbourne’s fickle weather come to the fore, reducing some games throughout the grades to 1day fixtures next week.
In Trollope Shield the Wantirna South v Ainslie Park game was one of these effected and their 1day game next week may decide their finals fate.
Meanwhile at Cheong Park, Bayswater Park won the toss and invited South Croydon to bat with great success by racing through the Bulldogs top order to see them slump to 5-46 with Justin Laughlin (5-28) and Jordan Rutherford (2-30) doing the damage. Michael King (68) then forged partnerships with Anmol Singh (26) and Scott Cogan (27) to get through 75 overs finishing all out for 157.
East Ringwood were also sent in by North Ringwood and managed to bat out their 80 overs finishing on 5-304. A 2nd wicket partnership of 116 between Taylor Gibson (130no) and Jack Price (70) set the Roos on their merry way and a hard hitting partnership of 85 for the 6th wicket between Gibson and Matt Stevenson (44) compounded the Bulls day.
Montrose won the toss and batted against Lilydale. Quinton Hodgkinson (3-49) and Callum Stevens (2-58) ripped through the Wolves top order to see them 4-9 before a 5th wicket partnership of 75 between Michael Edwards (121) and Justin Perkins (26) and a 6th wicket partnership of 95 between Edwards and Jake Crowe (40) saw Montrose recover to record 218. Cameron Spaulding (3-35) also did well with the ball for the Falcons who will start their run chase next week on 0-1.
