Round 6 of the Ringwood and District Cricket Association’s competition got underway on the weekend as a 2day fixture in perfect conditions.
In Trollope Shield all teams winning the toss batted with 2 teams completing their allotted overs and 2 teams having a bad day.
South Croydon started poorly losing 2-1 against Montrose before a 68 run partnership between Ollie Brown (33) and Michael King (28) looked to be getting the Bulldogs back on track. However, Justin Perkins (5-12) then took control to see South Croydon lose 8-43 collapsing to a final score of 112 off 54 overs. In reply, Montrose have 1st innings points in sight when they reached 1-62 overnight with Lincoln Grigg (40) the main contributor.
Ainslie Park managed to bat out their overs against Bayswater Park to reach 6-264. After being 2-41, partnerships between Aydn Sier (104no), Josh Bettess (37) and Rowan Peters (39) allowed them to reach their final score.
Only Mitchell Ebeyer (40) and Ryan Smith (28) were able to reach double figures when Lilydale collapsed to the bowling of North Ringwood’s Jay Stoikos (5-26) and Sam Ridgwell (3-26) to be dismissed for 111 off 61 overs. The Falcons bowlers then struck back to see the Bulls in trouble at 3-26 at stumps.
Wantirna South were well served at the top of the order by Troy McGown (119) and Cameron Smith (78) to reach their final score of 265 against East Ringwood. Matt Crowle (4-63) took bowling honours for the Roos.
