After last week’s wash out the Ringwood and District Cricket Association’s Round 2 fixture reverted to a 1 day game on Saturday.
In Trollope Shield, Ainslie Park won the toss and batted against East Ringwood. Jake Tucker (59) and Trent Sier (17) got the Parkers off to an explosive start by putting on 94 for the 1st wicket in 12 overs. Aydn Sier (30) and Josh Bettess (24) also chimed in to see Ainslie finish their 40 overs on 8-209. There were 4 run outs in the innings. Not to be outdone East Ringwood recorded 8-212 in their run chase to pass Ainslie’s score with 10 balls to spare. Matt Crowle (61), Jack Price (51no) and Matt Kershaw (35) were the main stays of the innings.
Bayswater Park were sent in by Montrose and after reaching 4-127 off 30 overs looked to be in line to reach a defendable total. However, the Sharks once again collapsed to lose 6-36 to be all out for 163 with Josh Kazar (41) top scoring. In reply Montrose reached 6-166 with Jake Crowe (63) guiding the Wolves home.
Twenty wickets were lost in the Lilydale versus Wantirna South game. Batting first Lilydale collapsed to the bowling of Drew McKay (5-13) to be all out for 103 with Mitch Ebeyer (38) the standout batsman of the game. In reply the Devi’s batsmen couldn’t handle the bowling of Callum Stevens (5-16) to see them bundled out for 68 with 22 extras in the score.
South Croydon got off to an enterprising start with Ollie Brown (53) and Tom Edwards (39) recording an opening stand of 84 against North Ringwood. Mitchell Crozier (31) and Michael King (30) pressed on to see the Bulldogs record 7-191 with Jay Stoikos (3-43) taking bowling honours. In reply Glenn Ibbott (70) and Matt Stoikos (66) shared an opening stand of 142 to see the Bulls cruise to victory recording 2-194 with 8 overs to spare.
