Round 5 of the Ringwood and District Cricket Association’s competition was completed on Saturday with many games washed out due to heavy rain throughout the week.
In Trollope Shield, runs on the board from the previous week were paramount in most games played.
East Ringwood kept their winning run intact when they easily defeated South Croydon. Chasing the Roo’s 9-236 the Bulldogs succumbed to the tight bowling of East Ringwood’s attack led by Nick Kearney (3-20) and Jack Price (3-35) to be dismissed for a disappointing 95. The game was then terminated.
Ainslie Park in reply to North Ringwood’s 6-236 were put under pressure by Luke Ridgwell (5-37) and despite Evan Jones (54) contributing were dismissed for 157.
Montrose bucked the trend when they chased down Wantirna South’s imposing 8-301. Starting at 2.30pm the Wolves lost an early wicket but a 2nd wicket partnership of 90 between Kieran Perkins (149no) and Jake Crowe (45) followed by a 129 3rd wicket partnership between Perkins and Michael Edwards (69) put Montrose in the box seat to complete the chase in the 74th over compiling 5-305.
In the Saturday /Sunday game between Lilydale and Bayswater Park, Lilydale won the toss and invited Bayswater Park to bat. A great decision when Callum Stevens (7-28) ripped through the Shark’s batting order to see them lose 3 wickets on 15 and 3 wickets on 43 to see them face only 25 overs to be dismissed for 71. In reply the Falcons have registered 1st innings points finishing the day on 4-123 with Jack Blain (49) and Mitchell Ebeyer (39no) the main contributors. This game will be completed on Sunday.
