Seniors Match Report - 12th January 2019

The Ringwood and District Cricket Association competition resumed after the Christmas New Year break with Round 9 being a 1day fixture, played in prefect conditions.

 

In Trollope Shield Bayswater Park won the toss and batted against Wantirna South and were soon in trouble at 3-6. James Court (54) and Marcus Adams (47) then rescued the situation by taking the score to 113 before Nick McDonald (3-41) dismissed them both in the same over. The Shark’s finished their innings at 8-172 off their allotted 40 overs.  Tristan Webb (3-24) also bowled well for the Devils. In reply, Wantirna South lost early wickets to be 3-34 but a 4th wicket partnership of 139 between Dan Thurgood (67no) and Michael McDonald (66no) saw the Devils finish on 3-173 in the 37th over.

 

Ainslie Park were well served at the top of the order when they compiled 7-229 against South Croydon.  Leigh Jones (56), Josh Bettess (37), David Killen (29), Trent Sier (22) and Aydn Sier (22) all contributed to their final score.  South Croydon lost 2-6 in the run chase but from then on Michael King (106no) controlled the Bulldogs innings and with the help of Tom Wynne (19), Joel Merrett (40) and Brad Stewart (33no) were able to reach the target on the 1st ball of the last over to reach 4-233.

 

North Ringwood were dismissed for 149 off the last ball of their innings against East Ringwood with Michael Scott (25) top scoring. Josh Gray (3-30) who took the 1st 3 wickets took bowling honours and there was 3 runouts.  In reply, it took the Roos 29 overs to overtake the Bulls total with Sameet Brar-Singh (46no) and Jack Price (45) contributing to their score of 4-150.  

 

After being sent in by Montrose, Lilydale’s openers in Ryan Smith (43) and Cameron Spaulding (36) put on 65 for the 1st wicket.  Wickets then fell at regular intervals to a persistent Wolves attack to see the Falcons close their innings at 9-190. Montrose were not up to the task of reaching Lilydale’s score

and were all out for 168 with Justin Perkins (40) top scoring.
