4 October 2018 - Posted by Timothy Court

The Ringwood and District Cricket association will commence their season on the 6th October 2018 with a 2 day game for all grades.

In Trollope Shield, last season’s Premiers LILYDALE are looking forward to defending their title. Quinton Hodgkinson has been appointed the clubs new Coach and Ryan Smith will Captain.

Marcus Baxter (The Basin) and Ben France (golf) are omissions but with significant recruitment in Jack Blain (Ringwood), Callen Stevens (Mooroolbark), Akash Tatikonda (Kilsyth) and Harry Lang (Clitheroe U.K.) along with a strong group of juniors coming through the system, Lilydale are welcoming the challenge.

MONTROSE will be hosting a Major Gala event on the 24th November 2018 to celebrate their 100th year and are encouraging all past and present Montrose players and supporters to contact the club regarding this event.

Daniel Ferguson has been appointed Coach and Michael Edwards will Captain. The Wolves have been busy over the off season recruiting Lincoln and Cooper Grigg (Mooroolbark), Matt Stella (Kerrimuir) and Nathan Rees returns from golf.  The club however, has lost Daniel Carratelli (East Ringwood), Bryce Edwards and Andy Walker (Wandin), Adam Byrne (Vermont) and Will Holmes has returned to England.

Newly promoted EAST RINGWOOD welcomes back Daniel Carratelli (Montrose) as Senior Coach and Matt Kershaw will Captain. Like last year they will look to play mostly home grown boys. Scott Hamer (Healesville) has been recruited and Josh Gray returns from an ACL. Steve Nichol, Josh Allison and James Price at this stage are taking a year off for family reasons.

On the back of BAYSWATER PARK’S most successful finals campaign in 50 years, they will approach the upcoming season with great confidence. Andrew Burke (Northcote) has been appointed new Coach and James Court will continue to Captain. They have a settled line up and look forward to an exciting season.

It’s business as usual at AINSLIE PARK who have no player movements except for the return of Aydn Sier from injury. Led by Capt/Coach Mark Arnot and Asst/Coach Leigh Jones, Ainslie will look to their younger players to increase their impact on the competition, whilst taking advantage of Jake Tucker’s ability to turn a game.

NORTH RINGWOOD are looking to go one better this year.  Under the leadership of Simon Gray (Coach) and Michael Scott (Captain) the Bulls have retained all their players from the top grades and look forward to vast improvement from home grown players in Aaron Leis and Ryan Peter-Budge.

Both SOUTH CROYDON and WANTIRNA SOUTH had disappointing results last season and with better luck with injuries will push for a finals berth this season.

South Croydon under the leadership of Michael King will be looking to their youth to take the next step. Glyn James has been cleared to Warranwood.

Wantirna South under the coaching of Cameron Smith and captaincy of Michael McDonald will be interested in their recruitment of some young talent in Nick McDonald (East Box Hill) and Jack LeBrun and Jay Dimitrov (South Croydon)
